I just setup a new Linode server and configured it so that I could run my new Drupal powered homepage. Alright! Here are of the particulars without going into too much detail.
- Linode server running CentOS 5.3 64bit
- I mostly followed this helpful tutorial to harden the server and install the basic software.
- Running the latest PHP, MySQL, Apache2 which I installed using yum.
- I decided to just use the default Sendmail just for outgoing mail since I am not setting up an email server. I'll probably just use GMail if I need email or another service.
I guess that is about it but it feels like quite an accomplishment. I'll continue to update this blog as I improve upon the server and daveparrish.net.
